The Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification, managed by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), is designed for IT professionals who specialize in cloud security. This certification covers six critical domains: Cloud Concepts, Architecture and Design; Cloud Data Security; Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Security; Cloud Application Security; Cloud Security Operations; and Legal, Risk and Compliance. Individuals who obtain this certification often see career benefits, including higher salaries—ISC2 members report earning 35% more than non-members.
For a related credential pathway, see our ISC2 SSCP preparation guide.
The ISC2 CCSP exam includes 100 to 150 questions, which must be completed within 3 hours. The questions are a mix of multiple-choice and advanced item types, with a passing score set at 700 out of 1000 points. The exam is administered through Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT), which adjusts the difficulty based on candidate performance. It is available in English, Chinese, Japanese, and German. For more details, visit the official exam outline.
Candidates need a minimum of five years of cumulative, full-time work experience in IT, including at least three years in cybersecurity and one year in one or more of the six domains of the CCSP. An education waiver allows a post-secondary degree to replace up to one year of experience. Additionally, the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) can substitute for one year, while an active Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential can waive the entire experience requirement. Those without the required experience can become an Associate of ISC2 by passing the exam and gaining the necessary experience within six years. More on experience requirements is available here.
The standard exam fee for the ISC2 CCSP certification is $599 USD. Unlike some certifications, ISC2 does not differentiate between member and non-member pricing. Fees are subject to change, so it's advisable to check the ISC2 website for the latest information.
To register for the ISC2 CCSP exam:
